On October 2, 1950 Peanuts was published in 7 newspapers - an instant success.

Peanuts creator, Charles Schultz, spent the next 50 years immortalizing Charlie and the gang. From greeting cards to TV shows, space travel to pumpkin patches, Charles Schultz never ran out of ideas.

Yale University named him Cartoonist of the Year in 1958. "A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving" won an Emmy Award in 1973. By 1984, Peanuts was published in 2000 newspapers world wide and by 2000 was enjoyed by 2600 newspapers.

Charles Schultz officially retired December 14th, 1999. He died on February 12th, 2000 just before his final Peanuts was published.
