Memorial Day and Veterans Day honor the sacrifice of Americans who served in the U.S. Armed Forces, with Memorial Day remembering those who gave their lives, and Veterans Day honoring all who served.

On June 19th, 1926, U.S. Congress designated of May 30th as Memorial Day. Since 1971 Memorial Day is celebrated on the last Monday in May.
November 11, is observed in honor of veterans of the armed services and in commemoration of the armistice that ended World War I in 1918. In 1954 it was renamed Veterans Day.
